Safeline

Project Date: June 2008
Project Type: I.T / Network Installation / Telecoms

National UK Warwick based charity 'Safeline' have been a client of Neighbourhood Computers for over 3 years. We have worked with them on numerous projects and recently just completed work on relocating their offices to new larger premises just off Warwick town centre.

We were asked to implement a complete I.T and Communications infrastructure designed from the ground up to meet Safeline's exact requirements.

1. Network solution

The new premises required a complete re-wire of the structured data cabling located on three floors in 7 separate rooms. New additional network points were required to not only supply the I.T equipment such as desktop computers and network printers but also supply connections to the new digital PABX telephone system.

We removed old "patch panels" which supplied a total of 48 ports and replaced and rewired new high quality panels to ensure a high availability backbone for their I.T and communications network traffic.

2. Telecom's solution

Safeline required a new multi-room, multi-extension and mult-line telephone system to cover the three floors. Sensitivity was required in 2 counseling rooms and a requirement was set so that these telephones located in the counseling rooms did not ring when incoming telephone calls were made from external parties. We configured a new digital PABX telephone system to allow for this.

3. Small Business Server solution

As part of the office move, Safeline wanted to upgrade their existing "peer to peer" network setup to a server based, domain solution.

We implemented a complete Small Business Server solution and upgraded all their existing computers from Windows XP Home to Windows XP Professional to allow Safeline to use a server based computer network.

Microsoft Exchange was implemented to allow for "on the fly" creation of email addresses when new employees join the company and allow all employees to utilise a shared calendar for meetings and appointments.

VPN and remote access was also a requirement for select employees who needed access to email and files from outside the office.

Other features implemented include new electronic shared desktop faxing, shared contacts, security and UPS (Battery Backup).

4. The support solution

After installation, it was apparent to Safeline that they needed the right support for both their new I.T and Communication systems.

We provided a competitive package to cover all aspects of their new technology including real-time server and network monitoring, technical support for both I.T and Communications and backup solutions should the worst happen.

5. The end result

Another satisfied client with complete support and peace of mind!
